Old World Furniture History
For many years, master carver Robert Ooms worked on carvings, restorations, and antique
furniture replicas for friends and family. Over the years, the demand for his work increased. In
1994, he founded Old World Furniture to make his work available to the general public. Located in the
suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, OWF has customers across the United States.
In 1995, OWF teamed up with a nationally known catalog distributor. They retailed one of OWF's most popular items, the
Savonarola chair. Over a period of 2 years, more than 150 chairs were produced. Several of the chairs were sold to Hollywood celebrities.
In 2000, OWF moved the shop to its current location. The new shop has more than twice the square footage. It is also
equipped with modern dust collection and several new tools to aid in the
manufacturing process.
In today's society, the internet has become the place for people to
communicate and share. In 2005, Old World Furniture joined the world of
internet commerce.
