The idea for this desk came from a beautifully carved Jacobean altar in Cheshire, Great Britain.
Designed to be in keeping with the altar’s proportions, it incorporated nearly all of
the original details. Made of select oak with black walnut accents, the desk has seven drawers and features two secret compartments. The desktop is burl walnut veneer.
Massive turned corner columns are four inches in diameter and serve as the frame for the desk. The lower rail supports the turned stiles, replicating the detail on the original. The foliage, nulling and channel carvings along with the split turnings and arches are all copies from the original.
The desk is finished with a museum quality wax, which Old World Furniture hand formulates, adding a rich patina very similar to the altar. It is further embellished with gold leaf highlights to make this an impressive one-of-a-kind piece.
This magnificent desk proudly serves as the focal point of an exquisite office.
